Hazelmere Infant School and Nursery - Curriculum
Our Curriculum (Intent)
Based on the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage guidance, our curriculum aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which meets the needs of all our children.
Each subject area is carefully planned to ensure that we take into account our children's previous knowledge and experience. We then build on this through carefully sequenced and planned learning experiences linked wherever possible to our locality.
Three key factors drive our curriculum. It is our aim to provide the foundations for future learning through developing:
Reading as the key to all learning
Curiosity to learn and discover the world around them
Awareness of the possibilities and experiences for life beyond our school

How do children make progress? (Impact)
Our school have three curriculum teams who work to ensure that our subjects are led effectively.
They monitor lessons and learning, talk to teachers and children and collate evidence to make sure that children are making good progress. Each term, data is collected and analysed to look at progress across various different groups within the school. Action plans are then drawn up and adapted to make improvements.
A key document in this is our curriculum area progress maps which can be accessed via the subject links on the side menu.
